BSB adds 21 new COVID-19 cases over four days




The Butte-Silver Bow Health Department announces 21 new cases of COVID-19 in the county.


The new cases were confirmed beginning Tuesday, July 28 through mid-afternoon Friday, July 31.


The new cases include:


  • five people in their 20s, three females and two males
  • two people in their 30, both males
  • a male in his 40s
  • eight people in their 50s, four females and four males
  • two people in their 60s, both females
  • two people in their 70s, a female and a male
  • a male in his 80s.


The Health Department has determined that two of the cases are connected to a cluster of cases, and these two cases are also identified as household contacts. Three of the cases are community-acquired, meaning that the Health Department cannot link the cases to travel or other known cases. One case has been linked to travel, seven cases have linked to other contacts, and three cases have been linked to a cluster.


The Health Department is in the midst of investigating five of the other cases.


In all of the new cases, the Health Department is following up with all individuals identified as close contacts.


The new cases bring to a total 65 COVID-19 cases in Butte-Silver Bow, since the county was informed of its first case March 13. The Health Department is managing 33 active cases.


The Health Department’s numbers related to COVID-19 and the map data featured by the state of Montana do not exactly match up, as cases are being confirmed quickly and several cases are coming out of isolation. The state map is located at
