Following early reports on Facebook by private citizens, Butte and Anaconda/Deer Lodge law enforcement reported that a suspected shooter was still at large, last seen in the Stumptown area.
Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester said in a text that numerous law enforcement agencies were at the scene.
The suspect is Michael Brown of Anaconda. He is 45. He is five feet ten inches tall and weighs 170 pounds, He has blue eyes and brown hair.
Brown is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous, the sheriff wrote.
He was last seen driving a 2007 Ford F-150 west of Anaconda on the Stumptown road. The truck bears Montana plates, number DTY493.
