Anaconda Ensemble Theatre

Anaconda Ensemble Theatre, a local non-profit theatre company, focused on new plays and community building through art. And until March 2nd, the company will be taking new, short play submissions for site/location specific plays. And they are especially looking for Montana local writers.
Formerly titled the Community Reading Series, the Groundwork Reading Series is a professional but community-based project, with affordable tickets and the shows will be performed in locations where "theatre typically isn't" such as coffee shops, hotels, bed and breakfasts, bars/breweries, shops, restaurants, cafes, and more! All shows play in Anaconda, MT and will run between May 2026 and April 2027.
The plays produced end up actually or thematically fitting all into the locations they are playing, which this season is The Montana, The Metcalf Senior Center, Everett Cook Law, and the Northern Hall Taproom.
AET accepts play submissions from regional writers in the Mountain West and Pacific
Northwest, with a priority on Montana local writers.
About your play: Plays need to be fully written (at least a draft); 20 mins and 75 mins (roughly max 60 pages); engage 1 to 4 actors )but can be as many characters as you want!
If a play is selected: we pay $100 for the rights for one performance plus a $50 travel/food stipend if you choose to come to the performance, if you are local to Montana but outside of Anaconda, plus free tickets to the performance.
