This June, in Butte America, many will have the chance to satisfy their inner “Basketball Jones” in our Uptown streets. Tyrone Shoelaces would be so happy.

Basketball hoops, basketballs, and basketball players will take over Uptown Butte for two days this summer. A new fun event has been slated to take place on June 18 and 19, starting at 8:00 am on the 18.

This event will be put on by Uptownhoops.com is a non-profit organization that strives to inspire all of Butte and neighboring communities to gather for fun, games, camaraderie, and an all-inclusive competitive event that has been designed to encourage fun in the out of doors as well as improve the local economy.

“With charity and maintaining as active community being a large part of our core purpose, we aim to donate back to local charitable organizations and supporting programs,” says UptownHoops.com. They also have the hopes of building a basketball court in Uptown Butte.

There will be 10 courts set up on Granite Street beginning at Main and ending at Lexington Gardens where there will be a sound stage set-up and will serve as the headquarters. Each court sponsored by a local business.

Basketball players will compete on the courts that will transform our uptown streets to outdoor basketball courts. Teams will consist of adult men, adult mix men and women and adult women. The ages will range from 4th graders to adult.

And of course, there will be the fun food courts and vendors setup throughout the town.
