Area Under Advisory located south of Farrell, west of Continental, north of Ottawa and east of Farragut and Howard (see map)

On 8/13/2025 the Butte-Silver Bow Water Department was notified of a cross connection in the distribution system. Due to the nature of this cross connection and the possibility of unknown contaminants, a Do Not Consume Advisory was issued to protect public health. Based on the sampling results from several independent laboratories, a new downgraded advisory has been issued on Monday, August 18, 2025.
This Health Advisory is precautionary.
Butte-Silver Bow Water Utility is continuing to sample and monitor the distribution system. Updates will be provided when available. Butte - Silver Bow water has continued to remain well within the safe EPA drinking water standards without any indication of contamination from mine process water.
What does this mean?
- People with severely compromised immune systems, infants and some elderly may be at increased risk when exposed to contaminated water. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers. What is being done?
- Samples continue to be collected. Water system personnel are closely monitoring the situation and will update users.
