Butte-Silver Bow has received an update from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

DEQ has downgraded the “Do Not Consume” Advisory and instead issued a precautionary “Health Advisory” only for people at an increased risk that are located within the Area Under Advisory. (see map)

These people include those with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly. These people living within the Area Under Advisory outlined on the attached map should seek advice about drinking tap water from their health care providers.

Butte - Silver Bow Water Utility is continuing to sample and monitor the distribution system. Updates will be provided when available. Butte - Silver Bow water has continued to remain well within the safe EPA drinking water standards without any indication of contamination from mine process water.

Bottled water will still be made available for residents at increased risk living within the area under advisory.

For residents at increased risk living within the area under advisory:

  • Bottled water is available today at Butte Civic Center from 3PM to 7PM.
  • Residents who need water delivery can call the hotline 406-497-6440.
  • The information hotline is open today from 8 AM to 5PM.
